Stanford University was founded in 1891 by a a man and his wife with the last name Stanford who created this school in memory of their only child, a son called Leland Jr., who died at the age of 15 from typhoid fever. It is located between San Francisco and San Jose, California and is one of the highest level academic schools in the country. It has a strong reputation for a terrific undergraduate program as well as various graduate schools in the areas of business, medicine.
